First ReShape Duo Dual Gastric Balloon Placement in Ohio by Dr. Trace Curry

Ten weeks after placing the first Orbera Intra-Gastric Balloon in Ohio, Dr. Trace Curry implanted the first ReShape Duo gastric balloon in the state.  The ReShape Duo is a system of two inter-connected gastric balloons that are filled independently.  This gives a theoretical advantage of being able to provide a higher fill volume (2 smaller balloons with 450cc each for a total of 900cc) than a single-balloon system, which usually holds 600cc.   Four patients underwent the ReShape Duo procedure, with each case averaging about 20 minutes.  All patients went home about an hour after the procedure was completed and were completely pain free.

Christopher, a 58 year-old man from Cincinnati, was the first patient in Ohio to receive the balloon.
