Let me start by saying that weight lost surgery is more about being mentally ready for the changes you are making to your life Your brain will lie to you, listen to your body. Your body will tell you are full. It was hard at 1st to listen to my body. All the foods I use to eat looked very appetizing immediately after surgery. My mind was telling me that the candy, cookies, cakes pies and chips we looking good to consumer, On the other hand I was full and could feel that I was full.
The James Augusta has been life saver for me. Before my bariatric surgery I was on 16 to 18 medications. I am currently down to 7. He told me at the initial consultation that he could cut me medications in half. He wasn’t sure I could get off insulin. Where my blood sugars were like a roller coaster, Quick highs, followed by drastic lows. Since the surgery my blood sugars are steady and rise gently with food intake and drop slowly. I am off all the insulin, I am down to 1 oral medication and Ozempic once a week, My blood pressure medications are at minimum, with bp at 110/70 and resting heart rate of 72. My knees don’t hurt when I climb stairs anymore. I am able to walk 2 + miles a day 7 days week. My waist went from 44/42 to 32. My pants actually fit around my waist for the 1st time in my life I don’t have a spare tire for my pants slip down over any more I have lost almost 100 lbs from my heaviest. I feel great and a much different outlook on my life.
The Dr and Staff have been wonderful to work with. I have not had any complications with the pre-surgery diet and the post surgery diet. I am now back on regular food and have not any adverse reactions to anything I eat. I have been able eat anything I want. I just don’t eat volume that I did before and I stay away from the food that I gained a the weight from before. Again success will depend on how mentally ready you are. You have to be discipline and not let your brain play tricks on you
