Being morbidly obsessed affected me negatively as a child, teenager & adult.

“I’m not just surviving—I’m finally living.”
– Kathy M., Gastric Sleeve Patient, August 2022
My struggle with weight began in childhood. I was bullied, teased, and labeled the “fat girl.” That shame followed me into adulthood, stealing my self-confidence and leading me into a painful cycle of emotional eating and yo-yo dieting. As I watched members of my immediate family suffer—and even lose their lives—due to morbid obesity, I knew I had to break the cycle. That’s when I turned to JourneyLite.
Since having my gastric sleeve surgery in August 2022, I’ve gone from 278 pounds to 135. I no longer obsess over food. I eat appropriate portions, feel satisfied, and no longer plan my life around meals. It’s a freedom I never thought I’d experience.
The support from JourneyLite has been everything. The dietitians and nurse practitioners guided me with kindness, not pressure. Their advice was honest, encouraging, and truly life-changing. They helped me build healthy habits, suggested tools like the Health Track app, and gave me the confidence to start exercising—something I never thought I could do.
Now, I go to the gym three times a week, spending an hour on the elliptical and weight machines. Before surgery, I didn’t even have the courage to walk into a gym.
This has been more than weight loss—it’s been a full-body and full-life transformation. I’m forever grateful to JourneyLite for helping me reclaim my health, my confidence, and my life.
