Appetite Suppressants
- Stop all appetite suppressants such as Adipex/phentermine for 7 days prior to procedure, do not resume after.
- As mentioned earlier, GLP-1 receptor agonists such as WeGovy and Zepbound should be stopped for 2 weeks prior to surgery.
Over-the-counter medications
- Hold all vitamins and supplements for 1 week prior to surgery.
For women:
- Birth control pills and vaginal rings must be discontinued 4 weeks prior to surgery and not resumed until 4 weeks after surgery in order to decrease the risk of blood clots.
For men:
- Vasodilator medications for erectile dysfunction should be held for 72 hours prior to surgery and for 3 weeks after. These include drugs such as:
- Viagra (sildenafil)
- Cialis (tadalafil)
- Edex (alprostadil)
