Even though the gastric sleeve is not technically a malabsorptive procedure, vitamin deficiencies can rarely arise.  For this reason we recommend:

  • Starting 6 months post-op, then every 6-12 months
    • CMP, SERUM OR PLASMA
    • CBC
    • HBA1C (HEMOGLOBIN A1C), BLOOD
    • LIPID PANEL, SERUM
    • TSH, SERUM OR PLASMA
    • VITAMIN B6 (PYRIDOXINE), PLASMA
    • VITAMIN D, 25-HYDROXY, TOTAL, SERUM
    • VITAMIN E, SERUM
    • ZINC, SERUM OR PLASMA
    • IRON + TIBC + FERRITIN, SERUM
    • VITAMIN B12, SERUM
    • FOLATE, SERUM
    • COPPER, SERUM OR PLASMA
    • VITAMIN B1 (THIAMINE), BLOOD
