Unprecedented expansion for coverage of surgical weight loss at Cleveland Clinic Health System

The Cleveland Clinic recently announced coverage for surgical weight loss for diabetics with a BMI of 30-35. Recent data from a study done at their institution shows excellent cure rates for patients with Type II diabetes after certain weight loss operations. Hopefully other organizations will recognize the health benefits that bariatric surgery such as sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and Lap Band can provide.  Perhaps we will see some employers right here in Cincinnati follow suit!
