Rosie O’Donnell formally announced that she underwent a sleeve gastrectomy. She made this public while speaking at an American Heart Association function last Friday. Rosie says that she felt she needed weight loss surgery to “save her life”. She has reportedly lost more than 40 lbs after undergoing the procedure just a few months ago.

A heart attack that she suffered in 2012 prompted her to begin investigating ways to lose weight, having been unsuccessful with diet and exercise in the past.
