2022 Update: Belviq is no longer on the market!
Last week the FDA approved the first weight loss medication in over a decade. This medication is called Belviq, and had only a modest effect on patients when studied in clinical trials. However, this is still good news as it shows that people are recognizing that obesity is a disease that requires long-term therapy and multiple treatment options that include surgical AND medical options. It’s hard to lose weight and keep it off, so we need all the tools we can get to win the battle!
