Our commitment
JourneyLite publishes health information to help patients understand weight-loss surgery, medical weight management, gastric balloon treatment, nutrition, recovery, and long-term follow-up. We aim to make this information accurate, practical, understandable, and consistent with current clinical guidance.
Our website provides general education. It does not replace an evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment recommendation from a qualified healthcare professional who knows the patient’s medical history.
Who creates our content
JourneyLite content may be written by bariatric surgeons, physicians, advanced-practice clinicians, registered dietitians, other members of the JourneyLite care team, or professional editorial staff working with JourneyLite subject-matter experts.
Clinical articles identify the person or team responsible for the content. When a writer is not the appropriate clinical authority for every claim on a page, the page is reviewed by a JourneyLite clinician whose qualifications match the subject.
Examples include:
- Bariatric surgeons reviewing surgical procedures, candidacy, risks, recovery, and revision topics.
- Prescribing clinicians reviewing anti-obesity medications and medical weight-management topics.
- Registered dietitians reviewing nutrition, hydration, vitamins, meal planning, and postoperative diet progression.
Author and reviewer names link to profiles describing their credentials, roles, and relevant experience.
How clinical content is reviewed
The reviewer evaluates the page for medical accuracy, appropriate context, clarity, sourcing, and consistency with JourneyLite’s current practices. Review does not mean that every statement applies to every patient. Treatment decisions depend on an individualized clinical evaluation.
Clinical pages display the most recent medical-review date. A page’s review date is changed only when a qualified reviewer has reassessed the content. Cosmetic edits, formatting changes, and minor copy corrections do not by themselves reset the medical-review date.
Sources and evidence
JourneyLite prioritizes authoritative and relevant sources, including:
- Government health agencies and public-health resources.
- Professional medical societies and clinical guidelines.
- Peer-reviewed research.
- Medication labeling and regulatory information.
- JourneyLite clinical protocols and first-hand experience, when clearly identified as such.
Sources are linked or listed when they would help readers verify a claim or explore the subject in greater depth. Sources support general education; a patient’s JourneyLite care plan and instructions may differ based on individual needs.
Updates and maintenance
We review high-impact clinical pages periodically and when important new evidence, safety information, regulatory decisions, medication availability, pricing, insurance rules, or JourneyLite practices change.
The publication date shows when an article first appeared. The updated date shows when the page received a meaningful content change. The medical-review date shows when a qualified clinician last reviewed its clinical content.
Corrections
If we identify a material error, we correct it promptly. When a correction substantially changes the meaning of a page, we update the page’s modification information and, when appropriate, explain the correction.
Readers may report a possible error through JourneyLite’s contact page. Please do not use the website or contact form for an emergency or urgent postoperative concern.
Editorial independence and conflicts
JourneyLite offers the treatments discussed on this website. We identify JourneyLite services, pricing, and treatment pathways as our own. Educational content is intended to explain choices, benefits, limitations, risks, alternatives, and follow-up needs—not to promise an outcome or establish that a treatment is appropriate for a particular person.
Individual results vary. Treatment eligibility, expected results, risks, costs, and insurance coverage require individual evaluation and verification.
Use of editorial technology
JourneyLite may use software, including AI-assisted tools, to help organize drafts, improve readability, or support editorial workflows. Technology does not replace clinical judgment. Material medical claims are reviewed by a qualified JourneyLite professional before publication, and the named human author or reviewer remains responsible for the published content.
Medical emergencies
This website is not monitored for emergencies. Call 911 or seek emergency care for a medical emergency. Current JourneyLite patients should follow the urgent and postoperative contact instructions provided by their care team.
