My gastric sleeve before-and-after story
My weight became a problem when I was a young adult, and it affected my health. After gastric sleeve surgery, I’m 137 pounds below my highest adult weight. Some of the changes I appreciate most are being able to stand for longer periods and feel comfortable flying on a plane.
Weights reported by Donta in October 2026. Total loss is measured from highest adult weight, not a confirmed surgery-day weight. Individual results vary.
When my weight affected my health
At my highest adult weight, I weighed 377 pounds. I was living with high blood pressure and diabetes.
I had tried GLP-1 medication before surgery, but I did not like the side effects. That experience was part of my decision to consider a different approach.
Choosing gastric sleeve surgery
In December 2025, I had gastric sleeve surgery with Dr. James Augusta at JourneyLite. I traveled around 3 hours for my procedure and was glad I did!
When I shared my story in October 2026, I weighed 240 pounds—137 pounds below my highest adult weight.
The changes I notice in everyday life
Since surgery, I’ve gotten my diabetes under control and my blood pressure back to normal.
I can also stand for long periods and be comfortable flying on a plane. Those changes have made a difference in what everyday life feels like for me.
A team I can talk to
The JourneyLite team has been a great source of support. When I need them, they are available for a conversation. Having a team I can reach out to has been an important part of my experience.
