Amy’s gastric bypass revision story
For Amy, weight had been a struggle for as long as she could remember. She first noticed it becoming a problem during childhood, and over the years it affected her confidence, her ability to exercise, and the active time she wanted to enjoy with her son, nieces, and nephews. At her highest adult weight, Amy reached 256 pounds.
Choosing revisional bariatric surgery
After previously having a gastric band, Amy decided it was time to explore revisional bariatric surgery. She traveled from Indianapolis to Cincinnati because of JourneyLite’s experience with weight loss surgery and complex revision procedures. Under the care of Dr. James Augusta, Amy underwent a band-to-gastric-bypass conversion in May 2025.
Life after gastric bypass
Since surgery, Amy has lost 96 pounds, going from 256 pounds to 160 pounds. More importantly, she has gained freedom, confidence, and a renewed sense of control over her health. She can wear clothing she once avoided and enjoy everyday experiences without the limitations and embarrassment her weight once caused.
“Making the decision to revise to the gastric bypass was one of the best things I could have ever done for myself. It is the perfect tool for me.”
Support through every stage
Amy credits the JourneyLite team with helping her stay encouraged throughout her transformation. The team continued checking on both her physical and emotional progress, including the moments when she felt discouraged or worried that she was not losing enough or moving enough.
