  • Prilosec (generic-omeprazole)
    • For gastric bypass patients, omeprazole should be taken daily for at least 3 months after surgery, to prevent the formation of an ulcer at the connection between the stomach pouch and the small intestine.
    • For sleeve, SADI-SIPS, and band patients it is an optional prescription and can be used as needed.
    • If you are having heartburn or GERD symptoms and you didn’t get a script for omeprazole, you can buy it OTC
      • Take 1-2 of the 20mg OTC tablets daily
