Devon Price, RD/LD, is a registered and licensed dietitian with JourneyLite Physicians who specializes in helping patients build realistic, sustainable nutrition habits before and after weight loss treatment. Her work focuses on bariatric surgery nutrition, medical weight management, protein-first meal planning, vitamin and hydration guidance, portion management, and the everyday behavior changes that help patients succeed long term.
Nutrition and wellness have been central to Devon’s career since she graduated from Murray State University in 2009 with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She has spent most of her career in bariatrics, working with patients as they prepare for surgery, move through the post-operative diet stages, adjust to smaller portions, manage changing appetite cues, and learn how to fuel their bodies in a healthier, more consistent way.
At JourneyLite, Devon helps patients understand that long-term success is not about perfection or willpower. It is about building simple systems that make healthy choices easier. Her approach is practical, encouraging, and patient-centered. She helps patients translate nutrition recommendations into real-life strategies they can use at home, at work, with family, while eating out, and during busy seasons of life.
Helping Patients Succeed After Weight Loss Surgery
Bariatric surgery changes the way patients eat, drink, digest, and respond to hunger and fullness. Devon’s role is to help patients understand those changes and feel confident at each stage of the journey. This includes guidance on protein goals, hydration, vitamins, meal timing, portion control, food tolerance, healthy snacking, label reading, and strategies for avoiding common pitfalls after surgery.
Devon also helps patients navigate challenges that can occur months or years after surgery, such as weight stalls, grazing, low protein intake, inconsistent hydration, cravings, emotional eating patterns, and difficulty returning to structure after life gets busy. Her goal is to help patients move forward without shame, judgment, or an “all-or-nothing” mindset.
Nutrition Support for Medical Weight Management
In addition to bariatric surgery patients, Devon works with patients pursuing non-surgical and medical weight loss. Nutrition remains a key part of success with any weight loss plan, including patients using modern anti-obesity medications. Devon helps patients focus on preserving muscle, eating enough protein, improving food quality, managing side effects when appropriate, and building habits that can be maintained beyond the medication or treatment phase.
Because JourneyLite offers both surgical and medical weight loss options, Devon is part of a team that understands the full spectrum of obesity treatment. This allows patients to receive nutrition guidance that is tailored to their specific plan, whether they are preparing for surgery, recovering after surgery, using weight loss medications, restarting after weight regain, or simply trying to build a healthier relationship with food.
A Practical, Encouraging Approach
Devon’s counseling style is grounded in real life. She understands that patients are balancing work, family, stress, travel, grocery shopping, meal prep, budgets, cravings, and busy schedules. Rather than overwhelming patients with unrealistic rules, she focuses on small, repeatable actions that add up over time.
Common areas Devon helps patients with include:
- Protein-first eating after bariatric surgery
- Meal structure and portion planning
- Post-operative diet progression
- Bariatric vitamin and supplement routines
- Hydration strategies
- Healthy snack planning
- Managing cravings and decision fatigue
- Understanding weight stalls and plateaus
- Building lifelong habits after surgery
- Nutrition support for medical weight loss patients
Patient Education and JourneyLite Resources
Devon is also a frequent contributor to JourneyLite’s patient education resources, writing and teaching on topics such as protein intake, metabolism after bariatric surgery, bariatric vitamins, portion management, plant-based protein, weight stalls, hydration, caffeine, hair loss, meal structure, and practical strategies for staying consistent. Her articles are designed to make nutrition easier to understand and easier to apply in daily life.
She has also helped lead JourneyLite educational programming and support content, including practical sessions focused on cooking, habit-building, and long-term success after bariatric surgery.
Outside of Work
Outside of her work as a dietitian, Devon is a wife and mom of four. She enjoys painting, reading, and occasionally baking the perfect macaron. Her personal and professional experiences both shape the way she connects with patients: with warmth, creativity, and an understanding that healthy living has to fit into real life.
